This palatial handmade-to-order 11.8" x 11.8" square lampshade features the "Bewoner van den Libanon" character from a hand-colored Karl Joseph Brodtmann stone lithograph from H.R. Schinz's 1840 Naturgeschichte und Abbidungen des Menschen. This man could be of Arab, Phoenician, or Canaanite descent. Brodtmann was part of the post-Linnaean Age of Enlightenment, hand-colouring sets for biologists and the aristocracy. Brodtmann's work displayed a remarkable sense of aesthetics and scientific accuracy. This handmade shade features a high-end, semi-translucent, textured textile and a fire-rated interior lining. Available as a ceiling or table shade, fits standard light fittings.
