J.R.R. Tolkien once used colored pencils and pens to draw some symbols that were heraldic lozenges (square diamonds with symbols representing a family) for heroic figures of his history of Middle Earth. Some of those designs are the inspiration for the eight symbols on this bag. On one side we have the symbols for Fingolfin, Finarfin, and Fëanor, three sons of the Noldor King Finwë. I also have Finwë’s device. On the other side, I have placed devices for Thingol (Elwë), Gil-Galad, Eärendil, and Lúthien Tinúviel (daughter of Thingol and Melian). Someone with a serious interest in Tolkiens legends of the First Age and the Years of the Trees might enjoy using this bag.
